Long before the Great Shattering, before the Departure, and before dragons became legends, the ancient world faced a growing problem. Resonance was expanding throughout the world. Portals connected distant realms. Dragons grew stronger. Civilizations advanced. The Keepers, Dragon Guardians, and Elder Dragons feared that without balance, the forces that united the world could one day tear it apart. Together they created the Resonance Key.
Why It Was Created
The Key was created to maintain balance between dimensions, stabilize Resonance itself, keep portals functioning safely, and prevent humans from acquiring the full power of dragons unless chosen through a true Resonant Bond.
The Twelve Pieces
The Key was created around twelve interconnected components: the Twelve Dragon Clans, the Twelve Ancient Guardians, the Twelve Resonance Forces, and the Twelve Portal Gates. Together these twelve elements formed a complete system.
The Scattering
As humanity's relationship with dragons deteriorated, concern grew that the Key could be misused. Its twelve pieces were scattered and hidden throughout the world to protect them from misuse, ensure only worthy Guardians could gather them, and prevent any single individual from controlling the Key.
Reuniting the Key
When all twelve pieces are reunited, ancient prophecies suggest the Dragon Realm can reopen, Earth's Resonance balance can be restored, damage caused by humanity can begin to heal, and the powers of dragons and their Guardians can increase.
