Long before the Great Shattering, powerful gateways existed throughout the world. These portals connected Earth, the Dragon Realm, Keeper sanctuaries, hidden Resonance sites, and other ancient places.
Purpose
Portals were not simple shortcuts. They allowed safe travel between realms, helped regulate the flow of Resonance, and protected ancient knowledge.
Portal Guardians
Throughout history, many portals were protected by Keepers, Elder Dragons, or ancient beings whose origins have been lost. For centuries, these guardians maintained the balance between worlds.
The Lost Portals
Time eventually took its toll. Some guardians perished. Others disappeared. A handful of portals were left vulnerable as their protections weakened. Goldenveil eventually discovered several of these ancient gateways, leading to both rescue and capture of dragons found beyond them.
Trials and Sanctuaries
Most portals cannot be opened by force. Many respond to trials designed to test courage, wisdom, compassion, sacrifice, and trust.
Connection to the Key
The Resonance Key and the portal network are inseparable. The Key stabilizes portals, maintains dimensional balance, protects travel between realms, and prevents misuse of portal energy.
