The Impact

In 2030, an asteroid struck near the region surrounding Hong Kong, China, unleashing devastation unlike anything humanity had experienced. The impact destroyed millions of lives, but the greater catastrophe came afterward.

The Chain Reaction

Massive earthquakes rippled across the planet. Tsunamis swallowed coastlines. Volcanic eruptions darkened the skies. Global infrastructure collapsed. Entire governments disappeared. The event became known as The Great Shattering.

Fifty Years of Survival

In the decades that followed, humanity struggled to rebuild. Cities were abandoned. Roads crumbled. Nature reclaimed much of the world. New settlements emerged among the ruins.

No Connection to the Departure

The Great Shattering did not cause the dragons to disappear. The dragons had departed centuries earlier because trust between humans and dragons had been broken. The Shattering instead created the conditions in which humanity would once again need the dragons' help.
